AboutThe Lyric’s main theatre is a beautiful 550 seat 19th century classical auditorium. We encourage contemporary theatre-makers to be inspired by its uniquely vivid and intimate relationship between stage and audience. The work in this space is rarely, if ever, “new writing” in the usual script-based sense of the word, but usually develops from direct relationships with directors, designers or companies who want to explore the full theatrical potential of the space. As well as the productions we makes ourselves, the Lyric also works with some of the most exciting theatre companies in Britain and abroad.
