About me
I began my career working within the theatre industry for nearly ten years. Since then I have explored my interest in AV, working across the sector in a wide range of jobs as well as keeping in touch with theatre, providing cover on a variety of productions. I am now looking for a new challenge.I previously worked at the Victoria Palace for nine and a half years as a chargehand electrician carrying out all sorts of duties including covering stage LX/Follow spot and the lighting desk for the show Billy Elliot. Whilst working at the Victoria Palace, I learnt many skills from electrical installation, moving light maintenance/operation and managing a crew. I was given further responsibilities such as being entrusted to cover the electrical departments acting as chief LX for the sister theatres St Martins and the Ambassadors Theatre whilst the chief and deputy were absent.
After being made redundant, I seized the opportunity to work within the AV industry. For the last 15 months, I've been freelancing within various companies to gain as much experience as possible, gaining additional skills in video and lighting. Many of the companies I freelance for involve me having to set up and use LED walls and projection. The work has been very diverse from setting up screens at the bottom of cliff faces in Wales, doing screen rigging and camera op at the Leeds and Ramblin Man festivals to projection mapping display units for the new Samsung S8. Some of the other events I worked on were Royal Ascot, The International Horse show Liverpool and setting up projectors and displays for conferences.
Recently I have been acting as Duty LX at the Ambassadors Theatre covering the chief LX and deputy LX for holiday cover. While at the Ambassadors, I've been the desk operator for two incoming shows performed during the day and overseen the turnaround of the show each day for the evening performance of Stomp.
Outside of work I enjoy a wide range of activities. For several years now, I have been pursuing my interest in photography and developing my skills which has now enabled me to work as a freelance photographer for families, school productions, weddings and even bigger events and concerts. As well as this I enjoy applying my technical skills to build computers for myself, friends and family. I also enjoy mountain biking and completed the London to Brighton ride for charity.
