Crew:
I am a BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier graduate of the University for the Creative Arts. I am confident with alterations and fittings. I am use to problem solving, working under pressure.
Working in the costume department at Merlin, I was able to instil confidence into my creative work and professional presentation, whilst building on my organisation skills and teamwork. The main focus was backs stage working, alongside the show technicians and the cast. Tasks would include setting the stage props, making sure cast members were provided with the correct costumes. I would also dress the cast in complicated costumes and carry out quick changes during shows. This part of the job required me to deal with any malfunctions with the costumes, battery packs or microphones. The costume team, are the first point of help for the cast; this encouraged high organisation, quick thinking and problem solving under pressure. In- between the shows any alterations, repairs and general maintenance would be done before the next scheduled show, the costumes and stage would be reset. I have learned to interpret creative illustrations and working drawings as well as working with unusual materials.
