  • Overview
Wind in the willows, written by Kenneth Grahame about the lovely stately home in Mapledurham, gives a beautiful insight into the world of the animals. Following the journey of Mole, a fellow of nervous disposition, on his way to becoming a confident figure of society by defeating the weasels who have taken over Toad Hall. On the way you get to meet all sorts of characters such as Crazy Toad, owner of Toad Hall and all round extremist. Anything he sees that he likes he gets. From Caravans to punts to racing cars Toad keeps going until he is ultimately left bankrupt. Sensible Rat is a sailor who lives on the river bank spending his days contemplating life going on picnics and making friends. Grumpy Badger, who by all accounts would rather not be in the story and left to hibernate until spring, is the father figure for the animals. No one messes with Badger! Not forgetting of course the baddies as well. Stoats, Ferrets and of course Weasels. Wind in the Willows is a lovely story of friendship, bravery, triumph and on Toads’ part greed and infatuation. All in all a lovely tale that makes you look at the river bank a little differently.
